The Design Mentality
Maximum Engineering aims to create an open ended and interactive design process by constantly flowing thoughts and ideas between ourselves and the customer. The completed design consists of a full virtual model of the product and an outline of the features and systems it incorporates to meet requirements. We include a complete list of materials and parts needed for prototype construction with pricing estimates in this package, if requested. Maximum’s design capabilities also include thermal, flow, and stress analyses; general requirements and level of analysis detail are discussed early in the design process to ensure proper direction throughout the design phase. Mechanical Design
Maximum Engineering has mechanical design and analysis experiences spanning many subjects of engineering including electronics packaging, autonomy, automotive design, aricrafts, and more. But possibly the most important aspect of Maximum’s mechanical design capabilities is our focus on manufacturability – a key guide for sound design practice. Our engineers’ machining experience and this mindset, in conjunction with other critical design considerations such as client input and cost, result in a path to efficient and precise design completion.
Electrical Design
Maximum Engineering’s staff have experience with designing and building both digital and analog systems with sensor, physical control panel, and computer terminal inputs. We are also skilled with various uses of microcontrollers to operate electromechanical systems. Maximum is able to deliver prototyped systems on breadboards as part of the design/debugging phase, or can take design directly through CAD model development to printed circuit board creation, depending on customer desires. Likewise, Maximum can use customer specified components upon request, or can source components for projects in the case that the customer is unsure or has no preference on component design/selection.
Mechanical and Electrical Drafting
Drafting is the translation by which sound designs become quality machined and fabricated parts. Our team is cross-trained in mechanical design and manufacturing – resulting in proficiency and efficiency in the go-between language – drafting. High precision parts, robust GD&T practices, and drafting to manufacture are our MO.
Software Design
While our software design forte is in microcontroller programming, Maximum also has capabilities for systems needing computer or smartphone interaction. We are able to develop applications for these systems to accommodate project needs.
Design Phases
Conceptual Design
The conceptual design stage is the phase of project planning that includes producing ideas and taking into account the pros and cons of implementing those ideas. This stage of a project is done to minimize the likelihood of error, manage costs, assess risks, and evaluate the potential success of the intended project.
Preliminary Design
The preliminary design stage, bridges the gap between the design concept and the detailed design phase. In this task, the overall system configuration is defined, and schematics, diagrams, and layouts of the project will provide early project configuration. During detailed design and optimization, the parameters of the part being created will change, but the preliminary design focuses on creating the general framework to build the project on.
Detailed Design
Following preliminary design is the Detailed Design phase which may consist of procurement as well. This phase builds on the already developed preliminary design, aiming to further elaborate each aspect of the project by complete description through solid modeling, parts lists, drawings, and specifications.
